Live From Fashion Ave: Spring Window Displays

Spring is right around the corner, but luckily enough, spring window displays are already here!
For a window display to be enticing, the outfits displayed must be fashionable, the mannequins used must be realistic, and the garments must be desirable.

To analyze this season's fresh, new windows, I took to Fashion Avenue and observed Macy's displays on 34th Street. I had already walked past these displays multiple times prior to photographing, and I had consistently stopped to stare at the dresses they featured.
It's no secret that blush has been an it color in the past few seasons. Yet, it's reached that very special point in the fashion cycle where people are starting to get sick of it. Innovators want something new!

Thus, it comes to no surprise that Macy's is still - or perhaps just starting to - feature all of their displays around this color.
To the mass market, blush is widely accepted and highly trendy. On the flip side, more fashion forward companies, such as Zara, are starting to throw flashes of color back into the mix.

Fast fashion aside, another department store, Lord & Taylor, had all of their displays focused on color.

Although these department stores appeal to different markets (interesting enough as they were both almost under the same owner Hudson Bay Company) you would think that they would have similar concepts. Yet, we have one following the safe choice of the obvious it color, and another starting to branch out and display something vibrant.
With so much contrast out there, what will prevail? Is blush still relevant enough after multiple seasons to have various windows dedicated to it or is the public ready for something new?
If one thing is for certain, it's that my boyfriend is definitely mannequin model material!
