Three Fashion Blogs: Jojo Inspo

In recent years, blogs have overtaken and consumed the fashion industry. The front row seats that were once reserved for editors of Women's Wear Daily are now occupied by bloggers and influencers. These bloggers and influencers have much in common: they all must have effortless, cohesive Instagram feeds - usually bombarded with the color white, they must have a slim body and thus be able to fit into that tiny, lacey bralette, and they must sell some sort of tea or hair supplement in multiple posts with "#ad" in the caption. It's suffocating how similar and predictable it has become and many get lost within the masses. Yet, some bloggers still manage to stand out and inspire me.

1. Deniz Gurbuz

Deniz Gurbuz, otherwise known as Dressed Up Deniz, is a fashion blogger with an additional interest in law.

From her vibrant colors to her tea length skirts, Gurbuz is far from a modern-day stereotypical blogger. Her personal style embodies the kind of outfits I fantasize about wearing.

All her outfits are crisp and professional, yet girly and fun with pops of color. Gurbuz's main priority is posting her outfits - she doesn't post advertisements or promotions, only her matching Louboutins/purse combinations. Gurbuz is not influenced by trends and fads in the industry, such as Gucci mules and the muted colors of beige and salmon. Her style is classic yet contemporary; she will never appear untrendy. Seeing her elegant, lively ensembles is not only refreshing, but also inspiring to be different from the rest.

Although I cannot buy Christian Louboutin shoes in every color to match different Dior pursues, Deniz Gurbuz has shown me that every outfit can be dressed up with a pair of heels and splash of color.

2. Who What Wear

Who What Wear is a fashion blog committed to showcasing various aspects and price points of fashion. Self -described as "aspirational yet accessible fashion content," Who What Wear is present across the globe and considered a leading source in fashion reporting.

By showcasing both celebrity looks and street style, accurate trend reports can be formulated. There is no one true source of inspiration; thus, content reflects a multitude of price points and consumer buying habits.

In addition to reporting on celebrity outfits and displaying eye-catching street style, the blog also creates shopping guides based on the latest trends. Again, these guides reflect a range of price points, allowing for the blog to appeal to a range of readers.

Who What Wear also includes a "shop" link on the blog that redirects to a section devoted specifically to quickly viewing and purchasing merchandise. The products curated in this section are chosen by editors with live links to purchase. This feature adds to WWW's competitive advantage by making it a one-stop blog for all fashion needs.

3. Blair Eadie

Atlantic // Pacific blogger Blair Eadie is an up and coming star with a verified account and nearly one million Instagram followers.

Her blog is minimal and easy to navigate. Her "Outfits" link is sub-linked based on categories, such as denim and dresses, thus making it easy to find specific inspiration. Next to her search bar, she includes miniature icons to all her social media accounts; this header follows no matter how far down you scroll down the blog.

Eadie herself started out as a merchandiser for the Gap and only began her blog as a hobby. Like Deniz Gurbuz, I am attracted to Blair Eadie because of her feminine sense of style and her usage of color. Her outfit inspirations are attainable as she provides specific details to where she bought them as well as alternatives. Although not all the pieces she incorporates are affordable, such as her Chanel bags, she still includes garments from retailers of all price points, like J. Crew.

Although I appreciate mass followings and encourage the expression of personal style, I cannot help but feel dissatisfied with bloggers such as We Wore What. As hypocritical as I may sound, I am exhausted with strictly neutral colors. I like to see pops of vibrancy - it's stimulating and fresh. These blogs have incited me in one way or another and motivate me to push boundraies and explore fashion in new ways.
